In 2020 Alexander Brodie - a trans man - started a GoFundMe to collect donations to buy safe, trans-friendly, affirming chest binders.

In my freshman year of high school, I bought my first chest binder. It had hooks on one side and straps across the other, causing an extreme amount of discomfort. Despite my pain, I continued to wear the binder. After all, I felt so much gender euphoria seeing my chest flat.

Scrolling through Instagram, I came across a post highlighting that the binder I had been using for 4 years was not made to affirm trans people. This is when I learned there were companies like GC2B that were started by a transman, to provide quality gender-affirming chest binders. I ordered a new binder and was amazed by the comfort I felt as soon as I put on my binder.

For 4 years, I was facing extreme discomfort because I thought there was no other option. I didn’t want anyone else to face this same experience.

In November 2020 I started a GoFundMe called “Safe Binders For Transgender Youth and Young Adults”

My goal was to raise $500. I quickly exceeded $500 and ended up raising over $900. I felt a fire inside of me to keep going - to not stop at this one fundraiser.
